    Term: September 2025 – September 2029

    Obren Bužanin was born on 29 March 1958, in Grabanta, municipality of Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Banja Luka in 1982 and passed the bar exam in Sarajevo in 1983.
    He began his judicial career in 1982 as a trainee and legal associate at the Basic Court in Jajce. From 1985 to 1992, he served as a judge at the Basic Court in Jajce, and from June 1992 to July 1993, he was a judge at the Basic Court in Mrkonjić Grad.
    From July 1993 to July 1995, he served as the President of the Basic Court in Jajce. From July 1995 to July 1998, he was a judge at the Military Court in Banja Luka, and from July 1998 to April 2003, he served as a judge at the District Court in Banja Luka.
    He was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of the Republika Srpska on 3 April 2003, where he also serves as the Head of the Criminal Law Department and Deputy President of the Court.
    Judge Obren Bužanin was first elected as a member of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 24 September 2007, by the judges of the Supreme Court of the Republika Srpska. Recognizing his work and dedication, the judges of the Supreme Court of the Republika Srpska re-elected him to the Council in September 2011.
    In 2025, the judges of the Supreme Court of the Republika Srpska elected Judge Obren Bužanin for another term as a member of the Council.
    Other positions and memberships held throughout his career:
     • President of the Steering Board of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Training Centre of the Republika Srpska;
     • Member of the Election Appeals Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
     • Member of the Bar Examination Commission in the Republika Srpska;
     • Member of the Notary Exam Commission in the Republika Srpska;
     • Vice President of the Steering Board of the Mediators’ Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
